The doggies had a meeting
They came from near and far
Some by aeroplane
And some by motor car
Before upon the splendid feast
They were allowed to look
Each doggie took his backside off
And hung it on a hook
Now when they all were seated there
Together Dam and Sire,
Some smutty little yellow dog
Got up and shouted ‘Fire!’
Now in the rush that followed
Not one dog stopped to look,
Each grabbed the nearest backside
From the nearest hook.
This story tells the reason why
A dog will drop his bone
To sniff another’s backside
To see if it’s his own!
